Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Ask Abe (the "Service") is provided by Ballot Box Inc. ("we", "us"). By using the Service you are entering into an agreement with Ballot Box Inc. By accessing or continuing to use the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be of legal age to form a contract in your jurisdiction, or have a parent's or guardian's permission. If you use the Service for an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it. Keep your sign-in credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your information accurate.

3. The Service

Ask Abe is an AI-powered civic and history companion available by text and voice. Free accounts receive 10 questions per day; Ask Abe Pro subscribers receive 100 questions per day and longer answers. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service within your plan.

4. Acceptable use

You must not misuse the Service, including by:

• using it for any unlawful purpose or to violate others' rights;
• fraud, spam, impersonation, or election misinformation campaigns;
• infringing intellectual property or privacy rights;
• interfering with security — uploading malware, probing or scanning systems, scraping, or circumventing usage limits;
• attempting to jailbreak or manipulate the AI to generate illegal, hateful, harassing or deceptive content, including deepfakes;
• reverse engineering, reselling or redistributing the Service.

5. AI answers and your responsibility

Answers are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Source cards support only the facts they display. Ask Abe provides general information only and is not legal, voting-eligibility or other professional advice. Verify important information with official sources such as your election authority. You are responsible for your questions and for how you use answers. We may filter, refuse or remove content and restrict accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Intellectual property

Ballot Box Inc. owns the Service, including its software, design, documentation, the Abe character and branding. You keep rights to your questions; you grant us a limited licence to process them solely to provide the Service. Rights-holders who believe content infringes their rights may contact us and we will review and act on valid notices; repeat infringers may be terminated.

7. Payments and subscriptions

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, renewal, taxes, cancellation and refunds are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Ask Abe Pro is $9.99/month, renews monthly until cancelled, and can be cancelled anytime with access continuing through the paid period. See our Refund Policy.

8. Service availability

We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages, including lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law does not allow it.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Ballot Box Inc. against claims arising from your unlawful use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious violations of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. On termination your account data is deleted as described in our Privacy Notice.

12. General

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, USA, and disputes will be heard in its courts. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in a merger or acquisition. We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We may update these Terms and will post the new date above.
