Who is responsible

Ask Abe is operated by Ballot Box Inc., which is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service — we decide why and how it is used.

Data we collect and why

• Account data (name, email, Google sign-in identifier) — to create your account and provide the Service. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• Questions and voice audio — sent to our AI providers to generate answers in real time. We do not store conversation transcripts or audio recordings in our database. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• Usage and subscription data (daily question counts, plan status) — to enforce plan limits and manage your subscription. Legal basis: contract.
• Technical data (IP address, device and browser information, error logs) — for security, fraud and abuse prevention and fixing problems. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• Support messages — to respond to you. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

Who we share data with

• Service providers who host the app, provide authentication and run AI models on our behalf.
• Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for selling the product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing. Paddle handles payment details directly.
• Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants.
• Authorities, where required by law.

We do not sell your personal data.

Retention

Account and subscription data are kept while your account is active and deleted or anonymised within 90 days after you close it, except where we must keep records (for example tax) longer by law. Daily usage counts and technical logs are kept only as long as needed for their purpose.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent. California residents may request to know and delete personal information without discrimination. EEA/UK residents may also complain to their supervisory authority. We respond to requests within one month.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls and row-level data permissions, to protect your data.

Cookies and local storage

We use only essential browser storage to keep you signed in and to run checkout. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. You can clear this storage through your browser settings, which will sign you out.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13.
